    Why consumer RF scanners miss most modern trackers

    Consumer-grade RF detectors sold as 'GPS detector' or 'bug detector' devices operate on a simple principle: they look for active RF transmissions in the frequencies where consumer GPS trackers are known to transmit. Modern professional-grade trackers defeat this approach in three ways: they can operate in store-and-forward mode, storing location data locally and transmitting in brief bursts at irregular intervals; they can be placed in a sleep state activated by motion, meaning the vehicle must be moving for the transmission to occur; and some use encrypted satellite communication on frequencies outside the range of consumer detectors.

    NLJD (non-linear junction detection) addresses the gap by detecting the electronic signature of semiconductor components regardless of whether the device is transmitting. It can identify a hidden tracker whether it is sleeping, in store mode, or on a frequency outside the RF scanner's range.     The vehicle inspection process
